The 22nd Australasian Fluid Mechanics Conference (AFMC2020) was hosted by both the Queensland University of Technology and The University of Queensland on 7-10 December 2020 in Brisbane, Australia, as a hybrid event.

The event was held in Brisbane and streamed to 14 different countries around the world. A total of 257 people were registered, including 120 students, with 57 participants attended onsite and 200 online.

The AFMC2020 was fully peer-reviewed, with its proceedings papers published online with open access.

With the current COVID-19 situation, the 22nd Australasian Fluid Mechanics Conference AFMC2020 will be held as a hybrid conference combining physical participation in Brisbane and online participation, on 7-10 December 2020.

The Australasian Fluid Mechanics Conference series is the premier fluid mechanics conference in the region. The AFMC2020 is organised in collaboration with the Australasian Fluid Mechanics Society and will bring together leading Australian and international scientists, engineers, educators and research students with common interests in fluid mechanics. The upcoming event will be the 22nd in a successful series of Australasian Fluid Mechanics Conferences:

  • 2018 Adelaide
  • 2016 Perth
  • 2014 Melbourne
  • 2012 Launceston
  • 2010 Auckland

The conference covers all fields of fluid mechanics research, engineering and applications, while addressing the requirements imposed by our growing population, the environment, agriculture, industry, and tourism for the current and future generations. This event will provide an excellent opportunity for social networking and for strengthening the links between Australian and international technical communities. A diverse range of focused areas will be represented by a number of exceptional plenary and keynote speakers. The AFMC2020 is fully peer-reviewed, with its proceedings papers published online with open access, and it offers a range of student prizes to showcase the emerging talent in our field.

We look forward to welcoming you in Brisbane in December 2020.
